THE ROTARY CLUB OF ARBURY TODAY.

Fellowship is the backbone of Rotary, and from this we are able to achieve high levels of voluntary service.

The Club structure is based on the usual Rotary model and in addition to the Club Council, the Rotary Club of Arbury operates with 5 Committees, namely Club Administration, Community Service, Vocational Service Membership Development and International/Foundation.  With the exception of the Club President, each member is allocated to a specific Committee, with the President attending as time allows.

All Club meetings start with a meal, in the manner set by the Founder of Rotary International in 1905, namely Paul Harris. Members of other Clubs, and local guests and friends, often join us and an air of conviviality pervades, the Arbury Club being  acknowledged as a very friendly Club. The general pattern of meetings is to have a Business meeting once every 4 weeks and a Speaker meeting on the other 3 weeks, all after the Dinner. Members take it in turn to provide and host the Speaker and some are " in - house ". A very wide set of interesting topics is covered, including serious, educational, witty and amusing and combinations of these and most are usually illustrated in some form.

The Arbury Club certainly adheres to the Rotary motto " Service above Self " and members work hard, via their Committees, to maintain a vigorous and worthwhile series of projects, whether they be relative to the local community, the Rotary District 1060, national or international. All work starts at Committee level and other Club members become involved as the project or social event develops. Some projects or support schemes may be " one-off", but most are designed to be continuous  or periodic, such as annually.

We only achieve all of these projects by being involved, and this is very much part of the enjoyment and satisfaction gained from being a member of the Rotary Club of Arbury
